Halloween at Sea World San Antonio means...

..Jack is back for a super-thrilling Howl-O-Scream event!

In the slide show above, you're viewing pictures of the terrific Howl-O-Scream Halloween event at SeaWorld San Antonio in Texas. A mix of family fun with scares at night...and a Halloween Shamu show that can't be beat...make this a must-visit seasonal attraction for San Antonio residents and tourists.

When does Halloween begin & end at SeaWorld San Antonio?

What days and times can you visit SeaWorld's Howl-O-Scream?

Sea World San Antonio's Howl-O-Scream Halloween event begins Saturday, October 1, 2011! Mark you calendars for this must-do attraction!

What dates can you go to the Halloween events at SeaWorld Texas? You may join in the fun on every Friday, Saturday & Sunday in October...plus Columbus Day, as well. Every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday in October, there will be no Halloween event; the park is closed on those weekdays during the fall (except Monday the 10th).

There are only 2 schedules for this event. These are either 10 am until 11 pm...or else 10 am until 9 pm.

10 am until 11 pm dates: Howl-o-Scream will open 10 am and close at 11 pm on Every Friday and Saturday as well as on Sunday, October 9th.

10 am until 9 pm dates: SeaWorld San Antonio's Halloween event opens at 10 am and closes at 9 pm on Sunday, October 2; Monday, October 10 (the Columbus Day holiday); Sunday, October 16; Sunday, October 23, and Sunday, October 30th.

Sunday, October 30th is the LAST night of SeaWorld's Howl-o-Scream... so if you want to enjoy the thrills and fun, be sure to make your visit on or before that date. Yes, SeaWorld San Antonio will remain open on weekends throughout November and December...but the Autumn pumpkins and skeleton decorations will be packed away and the park will start getting ready for Christmas.

SeaWorld Howl-O-Scream activities

What can you do during the SeaWorld Texas Halloween event? Plenty!

There are two types of activities at SeaWorld San Antonio for Halloween. By day, the park is full of fun family activities that even small babies, toddlers and preschoolers will enjoy. (And yet, older members of the family will have fun, too.)

The park is amazingly decorated with pumpkins, whimsical skeletons, "scary" werewolves, and other autumn themes. What's most amazing is how very many decorations there are. SeaWorld San Antonio is quite large...and yet every part of the park is decorated, and not just the entrance plaza!

All "regular" (non-Halloween) rides and shows will be running, so even if you're not a Halloween-lover, there will be plenty for you to do. And yet, if you DO want to enjoy the park's many Halloween activities, you may not have time to experience many of the non-Halloween events; the Halloween schedule of activities can keep your family busy for the day all by themselves!

Daytime activities at Howl-O-Scream:

1.) FantaSea un-scary maze: This is Sea World...so what could be more appropriate than a cute, un-haunted attraction about sea creatures? This is a fun attraction, not meant to be educational...so don't be surprised when mermaids wave to you and fish may be purple or have sparkles on them!

2.) Creepy Creatures show: On the other hand, yes you CAN see some real animals...and education never seemed so fun or frightening! This show's popularity may surprise you, so be sure to come early, or you'll find the large Sea Star Theater already full.

3.) Countdown to Halloween: The word "count" should give you a clue: this is a Sesame Street show! While many families don't have preschoolers, if yours does, this is a fun show that they're sure to enjoy. Music, dancing, and an array of favorite Sesame Street characters put on a show that's almost as entertaining for Mom & Dad as it is for the youngsters. (You can see the Sesame Street show pictures in the slides above! Most your favorite characters are probably here, including Ernie, Bert, Elmo and...of course...the Count.)

4.) Unscheduled entertainment in Shamu's Happy Harbor: Keep your eyes out and ear on the loudspeaker; there are some extra things to do that may not be on your park's schedule. There are a few kiddie games, plus character greetings (eg. penguins, dolphins)...and the characters are wearing their Halloween costumes! A cute pirate-themed magic show was an act that totally surprised us last year.

5.) All of Sea World's "regular" entertainment is on the schedule, too! This includes Shamu's popular show, "Believe," the dolphin's popular "Azul" show, and the adorable Clyde & Seamore sea lion show.

6.) Got kids? Get a kid's meal! Special Halloween themed lunch boxes for children make mealtime a special treat.

Nighttime activities at SeaWorld San Antonio's Howl-o-Scream:

In the slide show above, you're looking at pictures of monsters, evil clowns, werewolves, Shamu's Halloween show...and Jack's Finale musical show---all part of the "scary" nighttime fun at SeaWorld San Antonio during Howl-o-Scream. Here's a list of the activities you can enjoy--

1.) Shamu's Rockin' Creep Show: This wildly popular Halloween-themed Shamu show filled completely to capacity last year at TWO different evening performances. (It was so good that we went to both of them!) Yet, the Shamu Halloween show is only scheduled for one performance this year on most nights...which is certainly sure to create pandemonium as hordes of people try to squeeze into the stadium. If you're interested in seeing the show, this is one of the park's biggest events to plan your visit around. And, neither a Platinum Pass nor a front-of-line pass will allow you to stroll in at the last minute.

2.) Haunted Mazes: There are two of them...and they both draw big lines. You can only be at one or the other at opening time in the evening...so it's pretty much a sure thing that the other one will have an hour's waiting time by the time you reach it. Having a front-of-line pass will really help. Since the haunted houses open at 7 pm...but the park closes so early at 10 pm...there's virtually no way you can see both haunted mazes AND the evening Halloween Shamu show without one.

Den of the Departed is the maze you'll find near the Penguin Encounter. It may scare timid souls, but you won't find the hard-core blood 'n guts that are such a part of Busch Gardens Tampa's Howl-o-Scream event. (Even though SeaWorld and Busch Gardens are "sister parks," their Halloween haunts couldn't be farther apart in character.) Last year, families were taking their kids into Den of the Departed; some of the kids were probably too young. It's "relatively" un-gross; but it's NOT without gore completely.

Frightmare Forest is the other haunted maze. It has a "lights-on" viewing time for kids. (It's an outdoor maze, so actually, it's always "lights on" when the sun is shining!) There are no monsters prowling during the "kiddie preview" afternoons...but that doesn't mean it can't frighten children, anyway. Last year, the maze featured a major amount of disgusting fly paper...which was actually MORE visible and MORE gross during the daytime than at the evening performance. Shudder! Other things inside the maze which might scare kids are fake rats, spiders and snakes.

3.) Scare zones: Watch out after dark! You may be surprised by an evil clown or hairy werewolf who sneaks up on you!

4.) Jack's Finale: Jack, the pumpkin-headed monster who's the mascot/host of Howl-O-Scream makes his first appearance for the evening at Shamu's Halloween show. It's becomes obvious to first-timer visitors that some Texas residents and tourists make a habit of attending Howl-o-Scream yearly: when Jack enters Shamu Stadium, the crowd knows exactly who he is. Everyone goes wild; the reception is exciting...and filled with loud screams of delights from his fans!

Jack is also master of ceremonies for Howl-O-Scream's end-of-the-evening event. Jack takes center stage for a music and dance-filled revue. The entire huge SeaWorld entry plaza is stuffed with bodies, including dads with preschoolers sitting atop shoulders hoping to catch a glimpse of the stage. Fireworks cap off the evening with a literal bang!

SeaWorld's Howl-o-Scream prices and discounts

Good news: SeaWorld San Antonio's Halloween event comes included with the price of your admission! You do not have to purchase a separate ticket to enjoy the Halloween activities like you do at many other theme parks.

Therefore, the price of the Howl-o-Scream is exactly the same as SeaWorld San Antonio's normal admission tickets; you simply choose how many or how few of the Halloween-themed activities you wish to attend.

1.) SeaWorld discount coupon from SanAntonioAttractions.com: With every adult or child ticket purchased at full price, you can get a $5 discount. Here's a link to the SeaWorld San Antonio discount coupon, from the SanAntonioAttractions.com website. You can also get a cheaper SeaWorld San Antonio ticket by purchasing online from the VisitSanAntonio.com SAVE program. You'll have to give out some personal information (name, address, etc,) but then you'll get to purchase SeaWorld tickets at a special low price; here's a link to the SeaWorld San Antonio discount tickets signup page.

2.) Annual pass holders will be glad to know that all Halloween events at SeaWorld San Antonio are included in the pass program; there are no black-out dates that make you purchase a separate Halloween ticket! If you haven't considered getting a SeaWorld annual pass, you might want to think about it seriously. SeaWorld San Antonio is open 9 months a year...and has such a wide variety of attractions (including a seasonal water park) that you'll surely never get tired of visiting. The more you visit, the more you save...AND you can even arrange for inexpensive monthly payments for your pass, if you wish. (That's what I do, and SeaWorld's EZ Pay program it makes my pass easy to afford. A small amount is deducted from my bank account every month, and it doesn't hurt my budget that way. The park doesn't pay me to promote this; I simply like the EZ Pay annual pass system very much.) Here's a link to SeaWorld's annual pass page where you can get full details.

3.) Single-day tickets: If you simply want single-day tickets, here's the SeaWorld San Antonio Single Day ticket page where you can get details about the park's print-at-home internet specials.
