These scenes were taken when the Norterra Shopping Center was still a week away from its grand opening date. As you can tell by the photos, some of the first businesses to open include the Harkins Theater, Paradise Bakery & Cafe, Christopher & Banks clothing, C J Banks plus-size clothing, New York & Company, Victoria's Secret, Coldwater Creek and Kay Jewelers. Other stores will open not too long after the grand opening date; and still others are still in the construction phase. On this page, we'll talk about the Happy Valley Town Center's stores, plus the Norterra "mall" as well. These two important complexes form an important shopping, dining and entertainment hot spot for the area's resident's and visitors to northern Phoenix, Arizona. The Happy Valley Towne Center & the Norterra shopping center are located directly to the east side of Interstate 17 at the Happy Valley Road exit. You won't be able to miss seeing them. Nor will you be able to get lost! The combination of easy-off, easy-on-again freeway access, plus the well-rounded list of stores and restaurants that the Happy Valley Towne Center & Norterra Mall have to offer give visitors just the right place for taking a rest break. You'll face a tempting choice of restaurants and snack spots. Plus, between the huge Walmart Supercenter and the other stores, travelers will be able to refresh their supplies with nearly any item they might be needing. The Happy Valley Towne Center is a huge "big box" shopping center. Many of the stores are giant-sized; and if you visit several stores on your shopping trip, you'll surely have to re-park at least once. It's simply too great a distance to walk between them all...especially once you're laden with packages from your purchases! The Shops at Norterra, like the Happy Valley TC, offers consumers several large chain stores. In addition, however, the Shops at Norterra complex also has a mall-like "Main Street" area which features boutique-sized clothing and apparel shops. Many of these stores, such as Victoria's Secret, Coldwater Creek, and New York & Company (to name a few) usually only lease spots in traditional malls. Thus, Norterra is both an open-air mall AND a shopping center all rolled into one! Open 24 hours a day, this mega-store offers both visitors and local residents food and merchandise in many different categories. Visitors may be particularaly interested in Walmart's photo department, where 1 hour processing is available...as well as a variety of items you might need for either your film or digital camera. Happy Valley's Walmart photo center phone number is (623) 780-5718. Visitors may also need to use the Happy Valley Walmart's "tire & lube" department, where you'll find a wide assortment of tire sizes available at reasonable prices. Oil changes are available, as well, plus the store has an automotive department for other car-related items you might need. A pharmacy is available, though not 24 hours per day. The Walmart pharmacy hours are as follows: Mondays through Fridays, the in-store pharmacy opens at 8 am and closes at 8 pm. On Saturdays, the pharmacy will open at 9 am and close at 6 pm. Hot news! Norterra's Grand Opening happened April 18 & 19, 2008! The grand opening included the kick-off of the much-anticipated Norterra Harkins Theater. This is a welcome event for area residents, who will no longer have to drive "into town" in order to see a movie! Though not all of the stores & restaurants at the Norterra shopping center were ready to open by Grand Opening Weekend, enough of the Norterra businesses are open for you to warrant taking a trip to explore this attractive new center!
